Locked-up gang members and their associates are being given segregated meal times in prison for fear they will be poisoned.
Inmates including Alan Hutch, a nephew of Gerry “The Monk” Hutch, are among those on a specially isolated 16-cell landing at Dublin’s Wheatfield Prison.
All those linked with the crime family, except for convicted killer Derek “Del Boy” Hutch, were rehoused there in recent weeks.
A source said the prisoners have to be fed separately from the general population as they are targets for the Kinahan cartel, reports the Irish Mirror.

The source said: “Security is so high on them now that they are like ‘high status prisoners’.
“Five of them have to have their meals separately to other inmates to stop Kinahan henchmen from getting to them.
“There are no lengths they won’t go to including killing one of the Hutch family in jail.
“When they are having meals the rest of the landing is locked down so that other inmates can’t go anywhere near them.
“Even when they are going for court dates they are surrounded by full-on security. Every precaution is being taken to keep them safe.”
But Del Boy Hutch – serving a 10-year manslaughter sentence for the 2007 killing of Barry Maguire – is still on the West 2 landing of the jail.
While 24-year-old Patrick Hutch Jnr is on remand at Cloverhill Prison.
In May he was charged with the murder of Kinahan gang enforcer David Byrne.
More than 100 members of the extended Hutch family – including many with no links to crime – have received a written warning from gardai that their lives are in danger.
The bloody feud has so far seen 10 people murdered, including two innocent bystanders Trevor O’Neill and Martin O’Rourke.
