Strangest items left behind at UK airports revealed - including someone's holy water

We"re not sure whether it was a priest who left holy water at the airport.

What we do know is that the precious liquid was misplaced at Heathrow, where between May 2015-16, 26,543 items went missing.

Items with religious sentimentality quite often turn up at lost and found, new figures from Travel Supermarket show.

Hundreds of charms bearing the image of St Christopher, Catholicism"s patron saint for travellers, have also been recovered at Bristol airport and beyond.

Sure, you might not think necklaces with St Christopher"s face on are quite as extraordinary as a bottle of holy water, but there are plenty of other bizarre pieces on the list.

From Gatwick to Newcastle, Birmingham to London City (where scores of Prada watches and Dior bracelets are left behind), have a look at some of the stranger airport finds.

1. Fishing rod

We think there might be something fishy going on with this one. Who leaves behind a fishing rod? They"re not all that small, are they?

2. Microwave

Russell Hobbs silver microwave, Homebase Was £84.99, Now £44.99. SAVE: £40

We know airline food isn"t great, but this seems a little excessive.

3. Viagra pill, enclosed in an envelope

Some people need a little lift to join the Mile High Club.

4. Roll of carpet

It"s never a good idea to mouth off at an airport.

Perhaps the bride had received a bit of a dressing down.

No, this isn"t a ceramic bird. It"s a very happy owl.

An oud is actually an Arabic instrument, not often found in the UK, let alone at airports.

Britain’s obesity problem has spread across species - as up to four million DOGS in the UK are overweight, according to new research.

No word yet whether the dog, or indeed its stuffing, was ever recovered.

12. Roll of hand-written calligraphy

Could this have been a historic document? Maybe Indiana Jones has had his budget cut and is flying on commercial flights these days.

So far from home.
