Team news: New signings fail to make the cut for both sides
Swansea’s record signing Borja Baston is not yet ready to start, so we’ll have to wait a bit longer to see how he dovetails with fellow Spaniard Fernando Llorente in the Swans’ new-look attack.
As expected for the visitors, Luiz is on the bench with fellow newboy Alonso.
- Swansea: Fabianski, Naughton, Fernandez, Amat, Taylor, Fer, Cork, Ki, Sigurdsson, Kingsley, Llorente
- Subs: Nordfelt, Rangel, Van der Hoorn, Fulton, Britton, Montero, Barrow
- Chelsea: Courtois, Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta, Kante, Willian, Oscar, Matic, Hazard, Diego Costa
- Subs: Begovic, David Luiz, Alonso, Fabregas, Moses, Pedro, Batshuayi

Chelsea manager Conte was among those surprised that the Brazilian was available.
He has his fans, and not all of them will have Chelsea’s best interests at heart.
But with well over £100 million spent on the centre back who loves to roam so far in his career, clearly he knows how to impress the people that really matter!

Team news is imminent, but one person unlikely to start is David Luiz, following his shocking deadline-day return to Chelsea.

Match Preview
Swansea welcome Chelsea to the Liberty Stadium
Chelsea travel to the Liberty Stadium to face Swansea looking to keep up the pressure on league leaders Manchester City, but perhaps more importantly hoping to exercise some of the demons from their recent history.
Trips up the M4 have not been happy for the Blues in the past few years and not just in terms of points dropped.
In January 2013, Swansea’s Capital One Cup victory over Chelsea was overshadowed after Eden Hazard found himself sent off for an altercation with a time wasting ball boy.
And last season, the West London outfit started their stuttering campaign as they meant to go on with an infamous draw at the Liberty, which made headlines for Jose Mourinho’s harsh criticism of club doctor Eva Caneiro.
New manager Antonio Conte has got off to a winning start as Chelsea manager, with three wins from his opening three games. But he’ll likely be without new signings David Luiz and Marcos Alonso today, and will be hoping that the Swans curse doesn’t strike again.

As for the hosts, it’s been a difficult start to the season for Francesco Guidolin’s side, particularly with all the developments behind the scenes following their American takeover this summer. But the form book may just be on their side.
